This is a mini-christmas three I printed on my RepRap Mendel 3D printer. It is made from PLA, a biodegradable polymer. It is great for 3D printing because it has a low melt temperature and sticks to itself well while printing. It is also good for making mini-christmas trees because it is somewhat translucent.
I’m using an RGB LED (from my Sparkfun Inventors Kit), which is controlled through my Arduino microcontroller board by turning a potentiometer knob. The electronics side of the mini-tree is very, very simple. The breadboard makes it look way more complicated than it is because it is cluttered ith stuff from other projects. I had tried to make the piezo-buzzer play Jingle Bells, but I couldn’t get it to work.. The 3D printing of the tree was fairly challenging, so it is far from perfect.
Overall I think it’s rather festive.
