    If white smoke is all you want, you can use flour. You can also mix different colors to get the color that you want and add flour if it’s too dark, or use powdered food coloring + flour.

    Hi guys, today I’m going to be showing you how to make coconut flan, the recipy really isn’t that hard to recreate.

    You will need

    Sugar, 6 eggs, 1 can of coconut milk, Creamed coconut, 1 can of evaporated milk, corn starch or corn flour, salt, a large baking tray as well as a small baking tray or ramekins or a flan mould and a saucepan.

    Ingredients

    1 cup sugar for the syrup
    3/4 cup sugar for the flan
    6 eggs
    1 can of coconut milk
    Roughly a cup of creamed coconut but coconut essence would also work, you might need less of that though.
    1 can of evaporated milk
    3 tbsp corn starch or cornflower
    Pinch of salt

    Method

    Measure out a cup of sugar and pour an even layer into the bottom of a saucepan. Turn the hob on to a medium heat, my hob goes up to 6 and I put it on to number 4. Be very careful when making the syrup as sugar gets up to very high temperatures, if you are young please do this with the supervision of a responsible adult. Don’t worry if the sugar doesn’t seem to be melting at first. Once it starts to melt push it into the centre of the saucepan to avoid it burning. Once the sugar has completely melted and is a light golden, brown colour, carefully pour it into the bottom of the baking tin you want to use. Act quickly because once its melted it will start to burn very quickly.

    Pour the syrup into your baking tin, ramekins or flan mould.

    Preheat your oven to 180 degrees celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Pour water into a larger baking pan, making sure that the water does not come more than half way up the side of the smaller baking pan when its set inside it.

    Put all the other ingredients, eggs, creamed coconut, coconut milk, sugar, evaporated milk, cornstarch or cornflour and a pinch of salt. Mix them until they are well blended together.

    Pour the mixture into the small baking pan that has the now cooled syrup at the bottom.

    Then put the smaller baking pan into the larger one that is filled with water, make sure the water does not come more than half way up the sides of the smaller baking pan.

    Cook the mixture for 40-50 minutes.

    Hopefully the flan will have turned out perfectly, insert a skewer into the centre when its finished, if there is no liquid on the skewer it should be finished.
